Director's Message
Dr. Santosh Dhar
Coordinator - Shri Vaishnav Institute of Journalism & Mass Communication
We live in a world that seems to be forever changing, a new world with dynamic challenges that requires young enthusiastic adults who are capable to think about and discuss the big questions, new and old leading to a critically appreciative perspective on life and society. Organizations and society need creative individuals who would readily learn on the job, after having been more broadly prepared by a comprehensive educational background. We at SVIJMC provide a much needed cultural orientation and equip students with ideas, analytical and communication skills, and global perspective, as well as the ability to synthesize knowledge and make informed value judgments. A learning approach where students are part of synergistic teams and become quantitatively literate, learning becomes actually fun. Students with their creative and critical ability learn the skills, attitudes and abilities that are necessary today to grow into Journalists of substance and be happy and successful in their future profession.

Pedagogy
The main pedagogical methods are lecture, case study, and project work. These methods are supplemented and complemented by role-plays, Group Discussions, Brainstorming, syndicate discussions, etc. Students are asked to search for the content from websites, Newspapers, Television Channels so that they come to know of their application areas. Here, emphasis is to encourage student-centered interactions to boost the confidence of the student so that he or she learns to understand the concepts from pragmatic point of view. The carefully chosen pedagogy at SVIJMC is aimed at the overall development of a student as a person. Students are taught by brainstorming methods and then through attractive presentations.
