About SVITT
Only Textile Institute in the State of Madhya Prades
The Department of Textile Technology was one of the mother departments of SVITS, started in 1995.Over the years, an excellent base in terms of facility and machinery has been built at the department. After the glorious 21 years of significant contribution in Textile education the department of Textile is now recognized as Shri Vaishnav Institute of Textile Technology under the aegis of Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya.
THE STRATEGY
The objective of the institute is to produce technologists of high intellectual ability and transformability to lead Indian Textile Industry as a global clothier. The institute is taking active part in Textile Association of India (TAI) activities, Textile Cluster Development, sample development, testing services, MSME dept, industry related projects, R&D, services to handloom sector, etc. SVITT conducts seminars, conferences, workshops, lectures, training programs for the benefit of students and industry. SVITT is having strong industry institute relation.

Greeting and a warm welcome to Shri Vaishnav Institute of Textile Technology (SVITT)-Indore, under the aegis of Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya, that courage you to discover your individual passion by equipping you with knowledge to find your aspiration and develop your potential to become relevant to Textile Industry.
Textile Technology program initially started in 1995 as a department of Shri Vaishnav Institute of Technology and Science under DAVV University and later on Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, a State Technical University of Madhya Pradesh.
Today, we are proud to mention here that SVITT is the only Institute in Central India offering undergraduate program B. Tech. in Textile Engineering, B. Sc. in Fashion Design and postgraduate program M Tech in Textile Engineering. Additionally, it is also an approved centre for doctoral research leading to degree of Ph. D. under Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya. Since then 21 batches students have passed out and by this time they have started taking in the key position in the various sectors of national and international level. This Institute is also NAB accredited in 2006 and then 2011, which reflects its continual efforts of academic, research, technical and administrative staff’stasks and quality of our students.
Curriculum of each program is designed in consultation with academia – industry experts so as to develop efficient engineering skills amongst student for present day’s need of textile industries. We have taken initiative towards redefining our role from being a teaching-centric institute to an industry-oriented that will play an important role in addressing the Indian Textile Industry’s need and growth.
The Textile department has a team of highly qualified, learned and dedicated faculty with expertise in various fields of textiles and is a constant source of inspiration for students. At SVITT, faculty and students are actively involved in raising the standard to meet the fast-growing demands in textile and fashion industry.
The department is well equipped with laboratories encompassing of Spinning, Weaving, Knitting, Textile Processing, Textile Testing, Fashion & Garment and CAD labs in participation of active research scholars.
Through a unique blend of course work, project, industry visits, summer training program endows students with the ability to apply knowledge of science and technology to work effectively in the discipline as well as in the multidisciplinary teams, provide leaderships and technical expertise and practice work with ethical approaches and concern for society and environment.

Pedagogy
Textile Engineering is a multidisciplinary branch of science and engineering. So knowledge related to different branch of science & engineering was imparted to students during academia.
- The main pedagogical/teaching methods are theoretical lectures, Practical labs, Industrial Visits, Industrial Training and project work.
- The classes are conducted through LED Projectors, Video lectures coupled with inplant explanation in front of actual working of machinery.
- Besides this experts from industry and academia are being called to share their knowledge & wisdom with the students.
- Various Events are conducted in the campus to generate the leadership skill, team spirit.
- The carefully chosen pedagogy at SVITT is aimed at the overall development of a student as a leader.
