“One month free “Garment Design and Making”
Training for Rural Community-June 2017”
(June 1st to 30th 2017)

Shri Vaishnav Institute of Textile Technology has organized “one month free Garment Design and Making training for rural community” in the month of June, 2017. The objective of the program was to promote the self independency in the life of rural community through the modern technology. This is a continuous activity of the SVITT since 2005 and this time it is the 13th batch of student who had completed the programme.

In this year, 20 girls from Baroli, Alvasa & Bhaurasla participated. This training was based on industrial training module which includes basic measurement, pattern making, machine operation, cutting, sewing etc. Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma (Lab Assistant of Garment Lab) is conducting this training programme for the last 13 years.

The concluding ceremony of the training programme was organized on 30th June 2017 in the presence of Shri Prateek Rathi, CEO, Swastik Industries as Chief Guest and Dr. Upindar Dhar, Hon. Vice Chancellor of SVVV, Mr. A. Ghosh, Joint Registrar, SVVV along with the faculties and staff member of SVITT.

In the concluding ceremony Prof. T. K. Sinha (Co-ordinator and Head of SVITT) has briefed about the training and also explained the scope of garment manufacturing in and around Indore where more than 2000 garment units are working. After that Dr. Upindar Dhar, Hon. Vice Chancellor, of SVVV, motivated the trainees with his encouraging words and he also explained the importance of skill in the human life. He also said that “it is our responsibility to make our society well skilled through practical exposure along with classroom education”. Chief Guest of the event Shri Prateek Rathi, CEO, Swastik Industries had pointed out about the benefits of this training programme for the participant in terms of their improved employability as well as for the garment industry, which is facing the acute problem of shortage of skilled workforce. He also said that now a lot of opportunities are there and the participants can take the advantages of the same.

In the ceremony, trainees also shared their experiences during training, and thanked the SVVV for the wonderful experience and providing such a platform which may change their life style.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Ajay Shankar Joshi, Training coordinator. The comparing of the concluding ceremony was done by Prof. Rajesh Dhore.
